• Our meat

  • Basing the project on the quality of our final product we create four fundamental pillars:

Genetics - Food - Health - Animal welfare

    Genetics

    Our starting Point

Countless processes are necessary to obtain excellent quality cuts of beef but the starting point is the animal utilized.
In the same way that producing a good Malbec wine in the Mendoza province requires the best grapes we need the best cows. Therefore we chose the Angus breed as our starting point.
In a joint effort with the Sociedad Rural Argentina (cattle raisers trade association) and the Asociación Argentina de Angus (Angus association) we developed our genetic program.
Our selection objective was –from a phenotype standpoint- to obtain animals with good hind quarters, structurally correct while exhibiting good heads. From a genotype standpoint we look for moderate to low birth weights with high growth rate afterwards to provide a good ribeye zone as well as the capability to gain weight.
We adopted molecular marker assisted selection for certain post-mortem characteristics of our products. It’s known that the calpain marker (in both its forms 316 and 4751) favors the tenderization in order to achieve a softer cut.

    Nutrition

Quality is based on what we eat

In this section we’ll discuss the characteristics associated to beef quality measured through luminosity parameters, shades of red, the degree of marbling according to the USDA scale and the tenderness measured at different time intervals.
Achieving the right results in each one of these indicators we designed a diet based on 50% pure alfalfa, 20% ryegrass, 20% split corn from our own production and 10% mineral compound.
This nutritional formula ensures an excellent quality end product.

    Health

We take care of what we hace

Reproductive diseases: Brucellosis, IBR, DVB, Trichomoniasis, Leptospirosis and Bobine Genital Vibriosis are the cause of low conception and birth rates while diarrhea and neonatal pneumonia increase calf mortality rates.
A brief but deep analysis of the country’s sanitary situation regarding such pathologies allows us to realize that an intelligent management can improve both the livestock as well as its productivity.
Our high standard animal health programs at Frontera Nueva ensure the continuous improvement of our production indices.

    Animal Welfare

A happy animal yiels high quality meat

In 1993 the United Kingdom Farm Animal Welfare Council issued the 5 freedoms for the welfare of animals by which they have to be:
    1. Freedom from hunger or thirst by ready access to fresh water and a diet to maintain full health and vigor

    2. Freedom from discomfort by providing an appropriate environment including shelter and a comfortable resting area

    3. Freedom from pain, injury or disease by prevention or rapid diagnosis and treatment. We use fencing and sleeves to prevent animal injuries.

    4. Freedom to express (most) normal behavior by providing sufficient space, proper facilities and company of the animal's own kind to interact.

    5. Freedom from fear and distress by ensuring conditions and treatment which avoid mental suffering
